Treasure Chest Pro/AM

The Quiksilver/Surf Central Treasure Chest Pro/Am Surf Contest was EPIC and ALL-TIME for Martin County!!! The amount of talent that participated in the event was the best I have ever seen in one place at one time. There were over one hundred and eighty of the best surfers on the US East Coast and Puerto Rico ripping the 2'-4' waves apart for a share of the $10,000 purse and tons of prizes. The weather and waves could not have been better for a surf contest in little ole Stuart, Florida. There was not one major negative incident over the entire two day event. I, Teague Taylor want to thank everyone that made the Quiksilver/Surf Central Treasure Chest possible such as Quiksilver, Surf Central, The Surfrider Foundation, Martin County Parks and Recreation, Dr. Deiner w/ Ocean Chiropractic, Stuart Grille & Ale, Suburban Lodge, Publix, Treasure Coast Sports Commission, Matt Kechele, George and Charles Williams of Impact Surfboards, Lance-O, and the Buzz 103.1. The event by way of raffle raised close to $1,000 for the Hibiscus House children to attend Surf Central Surf Camp for this upcoming summer.

Congrats to Bryan Hewitson for winning the past weekend’s Quiksilver/Surf Central Treasure Chest skins event in overhead surf and taking a record 12 skins to beat 89 other surfers. (Aaron Cormican came closest with four, while Peter Mendia got three.) Bryan broke the Pro Skins record set by CJ Hobgood at Sebastian Inlet's "Quiksilver King of the Peak".
